Tour to Tipón - Piquillaqta – Andahuaylillas: South Valley

Duration: 4 - 5 hours.

Tipon: Archaeological site corresponding to the Incan period that demonstrates exceptional irrigation systems with vertical and horizontal irrigation channels on staggered terraces. Water flows from the subsoil to a source that is distributed by the channels mentioned. It was a center of important agricultural production that is located to the Southeast of the city of Cusco.


tipon-PiquillaqtaPiquillaqta: Another important archaeological site that corresponds to the pre-Incan period, it would have been an administrative center of Wari Empire, it's streets form paved quadrants, two storey constructions with stucco walls and floors. Well known today as a pre-Incan city, it is 30km to the southeast of the city of Cusco at an altitude of 3,350meters altitude and covers a territory with approximately 50hectares.
Andahuaylillas: Leaving Cusco towards the south, after 45 minutes by car we arrive at Andahuaylillas. A traditional town whose main plaza is dominated by its colonial temple called "La Capilla Sixtina de America" (the Sistine Chapel of America) for it's precious barroque paintings on it's ceiling and walls. Its murals, marks and altars are made of 24 carat gold, the church was constructed by the Jesuits who filled it with the wealth that is admired by all who visit.
