Choquequirao - Machupicchu 9 Days/ 8 Nights

Choquequirao 5 Days /4 Nights

Located to the northeast of CUSCO between the rivers of APURIMAC and URUBAMBA, Choquekiraw has a fascinating history and landscape surrounded by glaciers and mountains, home to bears, cóndores, tarántulas, etc. This region of cloud forest served as a refuge and fortress of the Inca resistance during the time of the conquest; from here they tried to regain control of TAHUANTINSUYO from the Spanish invaders. The customs and typical clothing of local people reflect a mixture of cultures. Their language and textiles, with Inca and Pre-Inca adornments are clear evidence of the influence of Quechuas, for example CHOQUEQUIRAO has identical architecture to MACHUPICCHU, PISAC, and OLLANTAYATMBO and is located in a strategic zone that was connected with all the important cities.

Inca Trail: 4 Days /3 Nights

This world famous hike is the most popular hike in the Andes, offering a unique experience rich in culture, history and bio-diversity. The Inca sites, the unforgettable views, crossing the snow-covered mountains and cloud forests where the exotic vegetation includes one hundred varieties of orchids. This route includes extraordinary ecological variety. MACHUPICCHU cannot be totally understood without the experience of the Inca Trail. Visiting these sites in sequence you can experience the ceremonial character, ascending in hierarchy as you approach the city. This Incan province was a zone accessed exclusively by the elite. The Inca Trail is essentially a work of spiritual art, like a gothic cathedral, and to walk the Inca Trail was an act of devotion.

 

Inca Trail: 2 Day / 1 Night

Day 1: Cusco - Chachabamba - Wiñaywayna - Machu Picchu – Aguas Calientes

inka-trail-huayllabambaIn the early morning our bus will collect you from your hotel and take us to the Cusco train station where we will take the tourist train to the town of Chachabamba. From here we will begin our hike after registering at the control post of the Sanctuary of Machupicchu. After approximately 3 hours, we arrive at the archaeological site of Wiñaywayna (meaning "always young" the name with which the villagers call a variety of small orchids abundant in this area). After lunch we climb to Inti Punku (Door of the Sun) a place which offers magnificent views of Machupicchu, and then we descend by bus to the township of Aguas Calientes (Hot Waters) where we will spend the night in a comfortable hotel after having dinner in a typical restaurant.
