PROGRAMS AVAILABLE

Intensive Spanish: Individual attention program consisting of 4 to 7 hours per day, Monday to Friday, from 8:30am-12:30pm and 1:30pm-4:30pm. It is a program designed for the foreign visitor that needs to gain the most out of their short time with the Institute. The class will include intensive grammar study, vocabulary, reading and pronunciation of the Spanish language with useful exercises and conversation practice.

Manta Activo: Weekly individual attention program of 30-35 hours combining Spanish classes with daily visits within and outside of the city. This program will allow the student the opportunity to put into practice Spanish that is learned in the class by means of different excursions with their professor.

Ecological Volunteer Program (minimum 6 weeks):

  • 2 weeks of Individual Spanish classes, 6 hours per day.
  • 4 weeks working as a volunteer on an ecological farm with full immersion in the Manabí farming community doing reforestation, nursery work, sowing seeds, picking fruit, creation and maintenance of vegetable gardens, compost making and working in the environmental school giving classes (optional).
  • This is a great opportunity to experience life with a rural Ecuadorian family and learn ecological farming practices.

Bildungsurlaub Program:

  • Program with 6 hours per day, and 5 days per week. Our school has this recognition for Berlin, Hamburg and Hessen.
  • Group Classes: Group attention program 3 to 5 hours per day, (minimum 3/ maximum 5 students) Monday to Friday, between 8:30am-1:30pm. It is a program designed for groups of friends traveling together with the same level of Spanish who are interested in taking lessons as a group.
  • Spanish & Surfing: Learn to speak Spanish and Surf in Manta, Ecuador. This program offers 2 weeks of intensive individual Spanish instruction (4 hours per day) accompanied by a basic surfing course with an accredited instructor (2 hours per day). Surf board is included. Accomodation with a host family is also included. Special: US$ 600

LODGING & AIRPORT RECEPTION

LODGING: With a Host family: Spanish students have the option of staying with an Ecuadorian family that will receive them as a member of the household. With the home-stay the student can expect: Private room inside the house of the family. All meals: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Laundry: minimum once per week.

Participation in the family life, having the opportunity to consistently practice the Spanish that is learned in class. Student's apartment: The school has a fully furnished department (with hot water, tv cable, etc.) where the students who want more independence has an excelent choice. Meals or laundry service are not included.

AIRPORT RECEPTION: In Quito: We will gladly greet you at the airport provided we have a minimum of one week's notice. This should include your flight number, airline, date and time of your arrival. A representative of the Institute will wait for you at the exit for international flight arrivals with a sign bearing your name. We will then drive you to your chosen hotel. The next day a correspondent will drive you from your hotel in Quito to the airport for your connecting flight to Manta or to the Bus Terminal. This is a free service for our students.

In Manta: A daily flight exists from Quito to the port of Manta on TAME Airlines: Quito-Manta: Monday to Saturday: 6.30 am (Tame airlines) Sunday: 7 pm (Tame airlines) Manta-Quito: Monday to Saturday: 7.45 am (Tame airlines) Sunday: 8.15 pm (Tame airlines) Cost of the flight Quito-Manta-Quito: US$ 98 There is also the possibility to take the bus from Quito to Manta (9 hours). We suggest you take Panamericana Buses. Panamericana Bus Station is located in Quito at: Colón and Reina Victoria Aves. The cost of the ticket for the bus is US$ 9.
The reception in Manta is a free service that is offered by the School to its students. Previously we should be notified of the flight/bus, date and time of your arrival in Manta. A representative of our Institute will wait for you in the exit of the airport/Bus Station with a sign bearing your name and you will be driven to the house of your Ecuadorian family.

Regional Tourist Attractions:

1. Beaches:

  • Crucita: Hang Gliding and parasailing are available 1 ½ hours from Manta.
  • San Jacinto and San Clemente. (2 hours from Manta)
  • San Vicente and Canoa. (3 hours from Manta)
  • Puerto López and Puerto Cayo. (2 ½ hours from Manta)
  • Los Frailes. (2 ½ hours from Manta)

2. Urban Area:

  • The Murcielago, with its scenic boardwalk has a group of restaurants, recreational sports, craft markets, bars and other places for fun and relaxation.Located nearby are banks, hotels and a commercial area. The waters are favorable for practicing aquatic sports such as surfing, sailing, body-boarding, and fishing.
  • Tarqui, Park of the Shellfish is where delicious local foods are prepared for your enjoyment. The practice of several sports is also available.
  • Barbasquillo Tourist Complex: There is a pool, sauna, gym, and disco with direct access to an extensive beach. There are also horses available for riding along the beach.
  • San Mateo: Area of urban expansion, home to fishermen who are dedicated to their occupation, much like their Manteña ancestors.

3. Rural Area:

  • La Tiñosa: A rest area with sand dunes and cactus that measure 3 meters high and various plant species.
  • Santa Marianita: Fishermens rural area.
  • Liguique: Beach far from the urban contour, where you can find rocky areas inhabited by snails, octopi, and lobsters.
  • San Lorenzo's Lighthouse: Wide beaches with wonderful views from the lighthouse where you can see the Isla de la Plata (Island of Silver). This area is part of an ecological reserve called Parque Nacional Machalilla.

4. Outside of Manta:

  • Machalilla National Park: With its well known Isla de la Plata offers similar fauna to the Galápagos Islands (2 ½ hours from Manta). **
  • Montecristi: Home of the famous Panamá Hats (15 minutes from Manta).
  • San Plácido Waterfalls: Natural waterfalls inside a forest of incredible flora. (2 hours from Manta)
  • La Locita Waterfalls: Natural waterfalls located in the town of Junín. (2 hours from Manta)
  • Bahía de Caráquez: Islas Frigatas, The Orchids Tropical Dry Forest, Island of The Birds, Wetlands of the Río Chone Estuary, Hikes to the Punta Bellaca, and Los Humedales - an impressive ecosystem of lagoons and meadows. (2 ½ hours from Manta).
