About Peru

Peru is a country that possesses a magical history and a diversity and richness rare in the world. The Andes measure more than 6000 meters high. The average height of the mountain is 6768 metros above sea level in the Cordillera Blanca, and 400 kilometers wide in various places throughout the country.  The terrain is divides into three different natural regions. Peru offers a unique opportunity to experience a range of diverse and spectacular scenery, rich culture, varied music and equally rich dances and feasts typical of the region. The Peruvian cuisine, is also one of the best in the American continent and the world.

Peru has 14 airports equipped to receive commercial flights and 10 equipped for international flights: Lima, Arequipa, Chiclayo, Pisco, Pucallpa, Iquitos, Cusco, Trujillo, Tacna and Juliaca.
Peru has more than 78 thousand kilometers of roads.

Extension:
With 1,285,215 km2, Peru is the third largest country in South America, (after Brazil and Argentina) and is counted  among the 20 largest countries in the planet. It is the tenth highest country in the world, possessing, in addition, 200 nautical miles and territorial rights over an area of 60 million hectares in Antarctica.

Government:
Peru is a democratic republic. The President and members of Congress are elected every five years by a universal vote. The present Constitutional President of Peru is Dr. Alan García Pérez (2006-2011).
